5 Northern Samar towns declared as Peaceful and Development-ready
Another five municipalities of the remaining 19 towns have gained headway in winning the peace in Northern Samar and has been as peaceful and development-ready municipalities. Last year, five municipalities of the 24 municipalities were declared as insurgency free.
Local officials and security forces signed a declaration today, declaring the towns of Lavezares, Rosario, San Jose, Bobon and Catarman in a formal ceremony at the governor’s official residence. All five towns are located in the mainland of Northern Samar and has no significant record of insurgency related concerns in recent years.
“We are accepting and taking the lead role on Internal Peace and Security but we call on the continuing support of the 803rd Brigade and the Northern Samar police Provincial Office in maintaining the peace and security in our towns,’ Mayor Rosales of Catarman said.
The declaration of these towns as peaceful and development-ready municipalities is another milestone in the 803rd Brigade’s effort to launch peace and development pockets – venues where like-minded individuals can now articulate and advocate the advancement of peace and its attendant development in Northern Samar.
“We will continue to weave and bridge together these pockets of peace and development in Northern Samar,” says 803rd Brigade Commander, Col Aquino.
